The highest compensation package offered in the on-campus placement for students in batch 2021-22 at National Institute of Technology – Karnataka (NIT-K), Surathkal was ₹45.03 lakh per annum.

Compared to this, the highest compensation package (CTC) offered to B.Tech students in the 2020-21 batch was ₹51.75 lakh per year in the Electronics and Communication Engineering stream, followed by ₹45.03 ₹ lakh in Computer Engineering and Information Technology majors, according to the institute’s Career Development Center.

This year, the companies have offered a maximum CTC of ₹45.03 lakh to students in computer science and engineering, electronics and communication and information technology. The minimum CTC offered so far stood at ₹4.75 lakh per annum in electrical and electronic stream.

“Microsoft has hired nine students offering a CTC of ₹45.03 lakh per year,” a spokesperson for the institute said.

With the ongoing placement campaign, the average CTC offered so far to B.Tech students is ₹13.12 lakh per year, and the median CTC is ₹10.5 lakh per year.

Disciplines offering high CTC are Electrical and Electronics (₹32.16 lakh per year), Mechanical Engineering (₹31.5 lakh), Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (₹31 lakh), Civil Engineering (₹25.33 lakh), Chemical Engineering (₹24 lakh) and Mining Engineering (₹20 lakh).

Total placement, including undergraduate and postgraduate students, crossed 81%, with B.Tech student placement alone hitting 91% a week ago.

Postgraduate placement increased by 20% from 53% in 2020-21 to 78% in 2021-22 up to a week ago.

Some of the companies that have hired students are Microsoft, DE Shaw, Uber, Arcesium, Amazon, Oracle, Google India and public sector companies IOCL, BPCL, GAIL, BEL, BEML, CDOT and CDAC.

Career Development Center Chairman S. Shrihari said, “Also this year, we are receiving more applications from many start-ups and well-established companies. At CDC, we train students in skills development, resume building, run workshops to compete in the respective fields. This year, we are putting more effort into international internships and PG/PhD.D internships.
