CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP), a national research laboratory under CSIR, Govt. of India Dehradun, Uttarakhand – 248005, devoted to multidisciplinary fields of research and development in the energy sector invited applications from bright and motivated candidates for the PhD. program in Chemical / Biological Sciences and Chemical / Mechanical Engineering, under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR).

The areas of activity of the IIP include petroleum refining, petrochemicals, biofuels, natural gas, alternative and clean energy, catalysis, adsorption, separation, CO, recovery and utilization. , nanomaterials, biotechnology, integrated circuit engines, lubricants and combustion. CSIR-IIP provides globally competitive technologies and services for the oil, chemical and automotive industries. It has close collaborations with other research institutes and academics / universities, both at home and abroad, and an impressive track record of internships.

Eligibility: PhD in Chemical Sciences / Biological Sciences: Applicant must have Masters Degree in Chemical Sciences / Chemistry / Biochemistry / Biotechnology / Microbiology / Environmental Sciences / Life Sciences equivalent and must have a valid national level scholarship (JRF / SRF from various funding agencies, such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST, etc.) or any other equivalent scholarship like INSPIRE, RGNF, etc.

Doctorate in Engineering: Applicant must have a Masters in Engineering or Technology after a four-year Engineering / Technology degree or a 4/5 year Science degree, or a 5-year M Tech Integrated Diploma; or equivalent. The candidate must also have at least one of the following (a) Obtained a national level scholarship (such as NET-JRF) valid in CSIR institutes (b) Meet all the requirements to be eligible for the CSIR -SRF (c) Meet all the conditions for awarding the INSPIRE scholarship (generally awarded to students ranked first in the University (d) Meet all the conditions stipulated by AcSIR for project assistants to register to a PhD. (e) Meet all conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry sponsored students
CSIR employees (Group III and Group IV) with the above qualifications are also eligible to apply for a doctorate. in science / engineering, provided they have at least six years left to receive a retirement pension.
